As we approach the end of term we would like to thank everyone for joining the IFSTAL network and taking part in the programme. Please do recommend IFSTAL to your colleagues and friends – they can join IFSTAL at any time of the year!
Our last event of the year is this coming Monday, with the IFSTAL Public Lecture, given by food journalist Sheila Dillon (more details below). But there's lots more to look forward to in 2017, including the Summer School and the IFSTAL Symposium, which will take place on Saturday 28th January 2017 at the Royal Veterinary College in Camden. Further details to follow but please save the date! Renowned investigative journalist, Sheila Dillon, presenter of BBC Radio 4's The Food Programme explores food systems in the media.

The live event will take place in the Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre, SOAS, University of London, WC1H 0XG. But, the lecture will be live streamed to IFSTAL's consortium institutions in Warwick, Oxford and Reading as follows:

IFSTAL Symposium: Technology – A Silver Bullet for the Food System?
As part of our IFSTAL Technology Symposium on Saturday 28th January 2017, we would like to include demonstrations of interesting food technologies. These could be high or low tech and could be at the design stage or fully functioning. So if you've been involved in a project developing a food technology of any kind, from seed drill to nutrition app, and are interested in presenting your work at the Symposium, please do get in touch by using the Symposium Discussion Forum.

City Gastronomic Society
IFSTAL students studying Food Policy at City have started a Gastronomic Society (https://www.facebook.com/gastronomicsocietycity/?fref=ts). Their first event is this Thursday, 1st December when they will be showing a documentary on insects and how they can positively affect our food system.
